Prayer for My Role in a Christlike Marriage:
Colossians 3:12 “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
Heavenly Father, we come to you today with heavy hearts, seeking your guidance and wisdom in our troubled marriage. We know that our relationship has been strained and that we have caused each other pain and hurt.
We ask that you would forgive us for our mistakes and our shortcomings, and that you would give us the strength and courage to forgive one another as well. Help us to lay aside our pride and ego, and to seek to understand each other’s perspectives and feelings.
Lord, I pray you show me the role I have in my marriage. Let my eyes see we are equal and are bound together to glorify your name. You tell us marriage is a picture of the church. I want to have that relationship with my husband/wife.
[Husbands and wives pray the appropriate scripture.]
[Ephesians 5:8-9 “So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church.]
[Ephesians 5:22-23 “Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.]
Grant us the wisdom to communicate effectively and with love, and to avoid speaking out of anger or frustration. Protect us from the temptation to turn to others for comfort or support, and guide us to turn to you and to one another for guidance and strength.
We pray that you would restore our marriage and that you would bless us with a deep and abiding love for one another. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Prayer Against the Attack of Satan on My Marriage
James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
Heavenly Father, we come to you today in desperate need of your guidance and wisdom. Our marriage is in crisis and we are struggling to find our way back to each other.
We ask that you would give us the strength and courage to face the challenges and difficulties that we are currently facing. Help us to put aside our pride and ego, and to seek your guidance and direction in all things.
We pray that you would give us the wisdom to understand each other’s perspectives and feelings, and the ability to communicate with love and respect. Help us to listen to one another with empathy and understanding, and to resolve conflicts peacefully and with grace.
Lord, I know there is nothing more Satan wants than to destroy our marriage. 1 Peter 5:6-8 tells us “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” I bind all works of Satan in my marriage and house. I refuse to let him win in this battle. As challenges arise, remind me what is at hand for we battle principalities in high places. I anoint my house with oil that you may be glorified.
Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].”
We ask that you would bless our marriage with your presence and guidance, and that you would restore the love and connection that we once had. We pray that you would give us the strength to persevere through this difficult time, and to come out stronger and more united than before.
We trust in your goodness and faithfulness, and we ask that you would bring healing and restoration to our marriage.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
