Prayers for a Men’s Retreat

Prayer to Open the Hearts of Attendees:

1 Corinthians 16:13: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

Heavenly Father, I come to you today to pray for our upcoming men’s retreat. Fill the place with the Power of the Holy Spirit so lives are changed! Pour out blessing on these men who have dedicated this time to spend delving deep into your Word. Prepare and soften their hearts

I ask that you open the hearts of the men, having them put aside their egos and humbling themselves before you as they hear and feel your presence. Firstly, make them acutely aware of who they are in Christ. Lord, so many men today seem to be living in their own power. There seems to be a void in the understanding of the power that lives within them. Genesis 1:27 tells us “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” May all the men believers operate with the mind of Christ, created in His image. How powerful is that…knowing that we are an image of Christ. Lord, I ask that you give each man the vision that he has the power of Christ within him. May the awareness of this power flow from him as he faces the positives and negatives the world throws at him.

Because each man is loved by God, I pray that each man desires to make Christ his first priority. Consecrate the men to spend time with you daily, resulting in righteousness. Remove any generational curses that one may have. This is a new beginning. I pray for those men with families, each understands his role more clearly. Make him a leader who loves his wife as Christ loved the church. Train his children in the way that they should go, making sure the children are grounded in God’s Word so they are not blown to and fro by the world’s teachings. I pray the men become bold but gentle leaders as they guide their families in the way of Christ.

May this gathering be an opportunity for the men to bond in such a way they leave with a strong core accountability group. Lord, I know men need men. I pray bonds are formed for follow-up times of meeting to share in their struggles, temptations, growth, and celebrations. I praying James 5:16 16 over these men:  “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Your humble servant, Amen.

Prayer for Men to Become Strong, Bold Leaders:

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Heavenly Father, I come before you today to lift up the men who are attending this retreat. It is my prayer they leave the retreat as the man God has called them to be. Let them get the vision of the power they have within them and how the Holy Spirit will equip them to be a leader in their homes, community, and nation. God, you know we have an epidemic of broken families. I pray changes in each man’s life begin at this retreat.

I ask that you would give them the courage and conviction to be bold leaders in their families, communities, and workplaces. Give them the strength to stand firm in their faith and to lead others by example. Help them to be unafraid to speak the truth and to make difficult decisions for the good of those they lead. Give them the wisdom to guide others with compassion and fairness, and the humility to listen to and learn from those around them. We pray that they will be guided by your will and that they will be a positive influence in the lives of those around them.

We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Philippians 1:14 “Most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.”
