7 Prayers for a Personal Deeper Prayer Life

Prayer for Wisdom and Guidance:

1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

Dear Lord, I come before you today with a humble heart, seeking a deeper prayer life. I know that prayer is the foundation of my relationship with you, and I want to cultivate a rich and meaningful prayer life.

Lord, I confess that sometimes my prayers are selfish and shallow. I often focus on my own needs and wants, rather than on your will for my life. Help me to let go of my ego and to pray with a humble and contrite heart. Matthew 6:6-7 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

Give me the grace to persevere in prayer, even when I feel distant from you or when my prayers seem to go unanswered. Help me to trust in your goodness and to know that you are always with me, even in the darkest moments of my life.

Teach me to pray with patience and endurance, and to seek your will in all things. Help me to pray for others as well as for myself, and to seek your kingdom and your righteousness above all else.

Lord, I ask that you would bless my prayer life and make it a source of strength and comfort for me. Help me to draw closer to you through prayer and to experience the joy and peace that only you can give.

In your holy name I pray, Amen.

Matthew 21:22: “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Prayer for Helping With My Prayer Discipline:

Romans 7:15-20 “15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.”

Dear God, why do I seem to always fail you in my prayer life. I know what I should do but don’t seem to always follow through. I want to have a deeper prayer life and a closer relationship with you. Help me with my self-discipline in spending time with you.

Please guide me and give me the strength and discipline to make time for prayer every day. Help me to quiet my mind and focus on you, and to listen for your voice in the stillness. Boldly show me what is getting in the way of my time with you.

Teach me to pray with sincerity and openness, and to trust in your will and your timing. I pray that my prayers would be in accordance with your will, and that they would bring glory to your name.

Please bless my prayer life and use it to transform me and draw me closer to you. Amen.

Prayer to Heal My Anxiety Through Prayer:

1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Heavenly Father,

I need your help in deepening my prayer life. You have shown me through the year that after I spend time with you, my whole being is more at peace. Lately I have been dealing with anxiety. I come before you with a heavy heart, burdened by the weight of continued anxiety. I ask that you would heal me from this affliction and restore peace to my mind and heart. Discipline me to spend more time in your Word and in prayer.

I know that you are a God of love and compassion, and that you care deeply about my well-being. I ask that you would help me to trust in your goodness and to have faith in your promises. Please give me the strength to surrender my worries and fears to you, knowing that you are in control and that you will never leave me or forsake me. Help me to cast all my anxiety on you, because you care for me.

I ask that you would surround me with your love and comfort, and that the Holy Spirit would fill me with your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help me to keep my mind focused on you, so that I may experience your perfect peace. Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Thank you for your unending grace and mercy, and for the assurance that you are always with me. I trust in your healing power, and I pray that you would bring complete healing to my body, mind, and spirit.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer to Trust God More Through a Deeper Prayer Life:

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

Heavenly Father,

Why do I continue to neglect what I know is the answer to any challenge I have in life? I ask that you help me put myself aside when it comes to meeting these challenges head on. I know it is basically a lack of trust in you. I come before you today with a heart that longs to trust you more deeply. I know that I often struggle to rely on you and surrender my fears and anxieties to you. But I also know that you are faithful and that you are always there for me, no matter what.

I pray that you would help me to develop a deeper prayer life so that I can draw closer to you and trust you more fully. Help me to make time for prayer each day, even when my schedule is busy and my mind is distracted. Show me how to pray in a way that is authentic and sincere, and help me to listen for your voice in the stillness. Fill me daily with the power of your Holy Spirit.

I also ask that you would help me to let go of the things that are weighing me down and keeping me from trusting you. Give me the strength to lay my burdens at your feet and to have faith that you will take care of me.

Finally, I pray that you would fill me with your peace and joy, knowing that you are always with me and that you have a plan for my life. Help me to trust you with all my heart and to seek your will above all else.

Thank you for your love, your mercy, and your grace. I pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”

Prayer of Repentance For Neglecting My Prayer Life:

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Dear God,

I am grieved that I have not been all you call me to be. I repent for having neglected my prayer life and my relationship with you. I have allowed the busyness of life and the distractions of this world to pull me away from the one thing that truly matters – my time with you. You know everything about me and are ready to hear from me. I commit to not thinking of myself any less than the fearfully and wonderfully made person you created. Psalm 139:13-16

I am sorry for my lack of discipline and my failure to make prayer a priority in my life. I recognize that I have sinned against you by neglecting this important part of my faith journey. I know that I cannot make it right on my own, and I need your help.

Please forgive me for my neglect and help me to return to a consistent and meaningful prayer life. I know that I need your strength and your guidance to do this. I pray that you would fill me with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to spending time with you each day.

Please help me to find the time and the motivation to pray, even when life gets busy and chaotic. Help me to make prayer a habit and a natural part of my daily routine.

Thank you for your forgiveness and your grace. I pray that you would continue to guide me and strengthen me as I seek to grow closer to you through prayer.

In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.

Proverbs 28:13 “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”

Prayer to Remove Distractions from My Prayer Life:

1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

Father

My desire is to go deeper and deeper in the Word and in my prayer life. It seems life events keep creeping in and causing my desire to be put aside. I realize it is exactly what Satan wants. He is defeated! I come before you today to ask for your help in removing distractions from my prayer life. I know that my mind often wanders when I am trying to pray, and it can be difficult for me to focus on you and your presence. I pray the power of the Holy Spirit captures my heart and mind during my prayer time.

I commit to focusing solely on you when I am praying. Help me to set aside any worries or concerns that may be weighing on me, and to turn my heart and mind toward you.

I ask that you would fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me to pray with a deep sense of connection to you. Just as an earthly father with his son, I realize you are just waiting that I will go to you daily with reverance and guidance. I pray that you would guide me and speak to me as I pray, and that you would help me to hear your voice clearly.

Thank you for your love and for your grace, and for always being present with me. I trust in you, and I know that you will help me to overcome any distractions that may be hindering my prayer life.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 4:25 “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.”

Prayer to Meditate on the Promises of God:

2 Peter 1:4 “By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”

Heavenly Father,

My new focus this year is to meditate on the many promises you have given us in Your Word. I come before you today with a heart full of gratitude for the many promises that you have made to your children. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, and I take comfort in the fact that your promises are true and unfailing. Psalms 119:105

Lord, I pray that as I meditate on your promises, my faith will be strengthened and my heart will be filled with hope. Help me to trust in you more fully, and to rely on your promises as I journey through this life.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.”
