Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Gracious and Merciful Lord,
Lord, I cry out to you today; I praise you for always being faithful to me when my heart is heavy. The evil in the world is becoming more and more evident. I come before you with a heavy heart, seeking your intervention to end the grave injustice of human trafficking that afflicts our world. Your Word teaches us in Psalm 10:17-18, “O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.”
I pray for the victims, O God, who are ensnared in the darkness of trafficking. Your Son, Jesus Christ, proclaimed in Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” May your liberating power be unleashed upon those held captive, bringing healing, freedom, and restoration.
Lord, we lift up those on the front lines of this human trafficking battle—the law enforcement officers, activists, and organizations tirelessly working to rescue and restore the oppressed. Grant them strength, wisdom, and success in their endeavors. Direct their paths to locate the people involved in this horrific crime. I ask that you put a hedge of protection around the people involved in rooting out those leading and organizing this activity around the world.
Proverbs 31:8-9 “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Quicken the hearts of those who perpetrate these crimes, Lord, with the light of your truth. Convict them and lead them to repentance through Jesus Christ. In your justice, bring about the accountability and transformation needed to end this scourge. I pray that these individuals will see the victims are you see them, precious creations of Your hands…a life that is valuable and worthy of life.
It seems as though the world is turning a blind eye to this atrocity. Society and governments have not taken measures to expose the level of crime. I pray for a collective awakening in society, Father, as guided by your Word in Isaiah 58:6-7, “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?”
Ignite in us a passion for justice, compassion for the afflicted, and a commitment to eradicating the structures that allow human trafficking to persist.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Liberator, we fervently pray.
Proverbs 31:8-9 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
