Prayer to Make Hospitality More of a Focus in My Life

1 Peter 4:9 “Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.”

Faithful Father

What a blessing you have been to me; your provision for me through the years has been more than I can comprehend. Sometimes I feel so undeserving. I want to make some changes and focus more on giving back. I come before you with a desire to open my heart and home to others, to practice the virtue of hospitality. In the busyness of life, I seek your guidance and assistance in making more time for welcoming others into my life.

Lord, too often, I don’t want to make the effort to open my home to others. I’m either too tired or feel my home isn’t presentable. I pray you remove that focus and make my focus more on serving those around me. Grant me the wisdom to prioritize the value of connection and community. Help me recognize opportunities to extend hospitality, even in the midst of a hectic schedule. May I find joy in serving others and creating a warm and welcoming space for those in need.

Lord, teach me to manage my time wisely, so that I may generously share the blessings you’ve given me. Open my eyes to the needs of those around me and inspire me to be a source of comfort and support. Show me those who just need fellowship and nothing more. Our culture has become one of isolation since the pandemic. Make me an instrument to create fellowship and community.

Hebrews 13:16 “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

I trust you will provide the resources for the gatherings. You have blessed me with the finances to open my home. Change my mindset on what it means to be hospitable; keep my focus on creating fellowship and community. Show me those who are seeking time with others.

I trust in your guidance, Lord, and I pray for the strength and grace to be more hospitable in my daily life. May your love shine through me as I welcome others with open arms.

In your holy name, I offer this prayer.

Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
