10 Prayers to Celebrate a Wedding Anniversary

Prayer to Continue to Honor My Wedding Vows:

Heavenly Father, I again want to thank you for providing me with the spouse you chose just for me. This gift of marriage has blessed me beyond measure. Lord, I praise you for the memories we have made, beginning with our wedding day. Ecclesiastes 4:12 tells us “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” I pray that we continue to honor the vows we made on that day. We know as long as we keep you in the center of our marriage, there won’t be any challenge we can’t overcome.

Lord, I am asking you for wisdom on how I can become a better spouse. The Christian life is about servanthood. I want to become more and more like you every day. Show me how I can better serve my spouse. Help me to honor my spouse by showing him/her respect and making him/her my priority.

Today I want to lift my wife/husband up to you. Please surround her with peace, happiness, and health. I pray you lead us as we grow together to serve you and our family. Let our marriage be a witness to others on what a Christian marriage looks like.

I ask for your blessings as we enter the next year of our marriage. Unite us stronger as we grow more in love. Your humble Servant

Ephesians 5:25: “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

Colossians 3:18: “Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.”

A Prayer of Celebration for Our First Wedding Anniversary:

Song of Solomon 8:6 “Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord.”

Dear Lord,

Praise God! My wife/husband and I just celebrated the first glorious year of our marriage. This has been the best year of our lives. We give you, God, the glory for what you have joined together.

As we celebrate our first wedding anniversary, we give thanks for the gift of each other and for the blessings You have blessed us with. We are grateful for the love, joy, and happiness we have found in each other and for Your guiding hand in our lives.

We pray for continued growth in our love and commitment to each other, and for Your guidance as we navigate the ups and downs of life together. Help us to be patient, understanding, and forgiving towards each other, and to always keep You at the center of our marriage.

Bless our union and guide us to fulfill the plans You have for us as a couple. We look forward to many more anniversaries to come, filled with love, joy, and all the blessings You have in store for us. Amen

Isaiah 62:5 “For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.”

Prayer of Thanksgiving for My Spouse:

Genesis 3:21-22 “So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.”

Heavenly Father,

Praise God for another glorious year! I know we live in a world that is doing all it can to destroy the nuclear family and redefine the meaning “marriage.” My husband/wife stand firm on the vision you have for a godlike marriage. I thank you for the gift of marriage and for the love that my spouse and I share. On this special day, our wedding anniversary, I give you thanks for the years we have been together and for all the blessings you have given us.

I pray for your continued guidance and protection over our marriage. I put a hedge of protection around our sacred bond. Please help us to always remember the vows we made to each other and to keep our love strong and true. May we grow in love and understanding, and may our relationship be a blessing to others.

Thank you for your faithfulness and love. I give you all the praise and honor on this special day and always. Amen.

Ephesians 5:31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Prayer for Strength, Patience, and Love Toward My Spouse:

Ephesians 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

Dear Lord, every day with my wife/husband is such a blessing. Sometimes I ask myself how I got so blessed to have this person walk through life with me. Our marriage is a testimony to how faithful you are when a person prays for you to send a godly spouse. You definitely answered my prayer in a powerful way. I praise you for another year to celebrate our marriage.

As we go into this next year of marriage, I want to focus on improving in one particular area. Today I ask for your strength to guide me through a particular challenge in my marriage. I’m not always the most patient person. Help me to have patience when things get difficult and to always approach conflicts with love. Give me the ability to understand and accept my spouse, just as he/she is, with all their faults and strengths. Help me to be a supportive and loving partner, always showing kindness and forgiveness. There is nothing more than my wanting to honor my wife/husband. The part I feel I may be lacking in is patience. I humbly ask for your support here.

Bless our marriage and guide us on the path of love, together. Amen

Proverbs 15:18 “A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.”

Prayer for a Deeper Relationship With my Spouse:

Ephesians 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

Dear God, I come to you today with a grateful heart for the gift of my spouse. Our years together have been such a blessing. Yes, there have been ups and downs, but that has not diminished my love for him/her. It has just caused us to be closer. We have committed our marriage to be like the cord of three strands. We will never be broken with you as the center of our marriage. Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

As we enter a new year of celebration, I ask that you would continue to bless our marriage and deepen the love and connection we share. Help us to communicate openly and honestly with each other, and to listen with compassion and understanding. Grant us the wisdom and patience to navigate the challenges we may face and to grow together as a couple. May we always find joy and fulfillment in each other and in our relationship, through your grace. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Prayer for Discipline in Creating Quality Time in Our Marriage:

Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Heavenly Father, thank you for another year with my spouse. You see we are living in a fast-paced world. There are so many distractions in our lives. This makes it easy to neglect that which is so important to us…your Word and our spouses. I praise you for another wedding anniversary with the love of my life. I don’t take this for granted so I want to do all I can to preserve what we have.

I come to you today to ask for your help in creating a discipline in our marriage that has us carve out time in each day and each week to spend alone time together. With the way it is now, this will not just naturally happen. I pray that you give us the discipline to put US on our weekly calendar. I know that creating quality time with my spouse is crucial for our relationship to thrive. But sometimes the demands of daily life, work and other distractions can get in the way. I ask for the discipline to prioritize our time together and make it a priority in our lives.

Give me the strength to put down my phone and distractions and to be fully present with my partner. May our time together be filled with laughter, joy and a deeper understanding of each other.

I pray that you bless our marriage, and help us to grow stronger each day through the time we spend together. Amen

Ephesians 5:15-17 “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

Prayer to Spend More Time Praying With My Spouse:

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Lord, I come to you today with a grateful heart. We thank you for the gift of my marriage and the love we share. I look forward to another year of exciting fun we have together.

I realize it is important to have fun with my spouse. My prayer to you is that we also put in time studying Your Word and praying together. I ask that you would help us to make time for prayer together, to strengthen our relationship with you and with each other. I pray that through our time spent in prayer, we would grow in love and understanding and that our marriage would be a reflection of your love to all those around us. Amen.

An Anniversary Prayer for Intimacy in Our Marriage:

Mark 10:9 “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Praise, You Lord, for another year with the husband/wife you have sent me. I am eternally grateful to you for the gift of marriage you have given me. I can’t imagine doing life without him/her.

Today I am praying to be more of what you want me to be. I pray that by the power of the Holy Spirit you help us grow in intimacy with each other, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I want to know more and more about my husband/wife. I realize the more I understand my spouse, the easier it is to navigate what life throws at us. Today I commit to removing any mask I have been wearing. I want to be raw, letting my husband/wife see exactly what makes me tick and all my triggers. I know when I show my spouse exactly who I am, you will honor that and prepare my wife/husband to accept and work with me. When I do this, I am confident our intimacy will rise to a new level.

Your humble servant, Amen.

Ephesians 4:2-3 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

An Anniversary Prayer for Our Marriage to Shine Before All:

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Dear Lord,

Bless you, oh my Lord, for the marriage you have given me. I give you all the credit for another year of marriage bliss. My wife/husband and I are dedicated to making our marriage stronger day by day. That can be done only by keeping you at the center of our union.

Today I pray for our marriage to be a shining example of love, respect, and commitment to others. May our love for each other be a reflection of Your love for us, and may we always work together to strengthen our bond.

Help us to support and encourage each other, to forgive and be forgiving, and to grow in love each day. May our marriage be a source of inspiration and hope to those around us, and may we be a testament to the power of Your love in our lives.

Amen.

Titus 2:7 “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity”

Anniversary Prayer for the Wonderful Memories We’ve Made Through the Years:

1 Chronicles 16:34 “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

Heavenly Father, we praise you for all the years you have given my wife/husband together. The memories we have made together are priceless. Today, I want to reflect on those memories we have together and with our children and grandchildren. Just as you have blessed us for years, we want to bless our children and grandchildren with our example of what a marriage looks like when you are the center of the union. We are dedicated to continuing this mission every year we have on this earth.

We pray for continued growth in our love and for Your guidance as we face new challenges together. Help us to be there for each other in times of need, to support and encourage each other, and to always make time for the things that matter most.

Bless our marriage and all the wonderful memories we’ve made, and help us to create many more in the years to come. May our love continue to flourish and bring joy to all those around us. Amen
