Romans 13:1 “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established”
Heavenly Father,
I come to You today, Lord, with a heart full of compassion for immigrants who are seeking a legal path to citizenship. No matter how they arrived or what challenges they’ve faced, I know each one is created in Your image and deeply loved by You. As Genesis 1:27 reminds us, “So God created mankind in His own image…”—and that truth applies to every man, woman, and child. I thank You for the value and dignity You’ve placed on their lives, and I lift them up to You, asking for justice, mercy, and a clear pathway forward.

I realize some of these immigrants have come to cause harm to the people of our nation. Lord, for those who have committed crimes in their homeland, I pray they are sent back to their country to be prosecuted to the fullest extent. I pray our legal system delivers justice for those who have committed additional crimes in our country. For any families who have been harmed by people who are in our country illegally, I pray you comfort the family members in knowing justice will be delivered. May Jesus be a healing balm applied to those affected by these crimes.
Lord, I’m lifting up those other immigrants who have entered our nation seeking a better life. Open their eyes to the realization they have broken the laws of our land. I pray that You work in the hearts of these individuals to willingly and peacefully return to their home countries. Help them to seek the proper channels and legal steps to enter this nation, honoring the laws of the land You have established. Your Word says, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.” Romans 13:1 Grant them the strength and patience to trust in Your timing and to walk the right path.
Father, I pray for their safety as they navigate these uncertain and challenging situations. Surround them with Your protection, provide for their needs, and bring peace to their hearts and families. Lord, Your Word promises, “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” Psalm 9:9 May they feel Your comforting presence as they seek direction for their lives.

Father, I also lift up my nation and its leaders. Help us all to balance justice with compassion, ensuring that laws are upheld while extending mercy and kindness to those in need. Remind us, as Your people, of the call to love others as You have loved us. Your Word reminds us, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
Most importantly, I pray that each of these immigrants who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ come to know Him as a life changer and life sustainer. Place in their paths believers who will minister to them and show them the love of Christ.
Lord, I entrust this situation to You, knowing You are sovereign over every nation and every heart. Lead us all to act in a way that reflects Your love and glorifies Your name. May these immigrants find hope and healing in You, and may Your peace reign in their lives and in the lives of the citizens of my nation.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Romans 13:2 “Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.”
