Prayer for Citizens in My Community:
1 John 2:16 “For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.”
Father, it is with a heavy heart that I come to you to ask for your divine help with the ravages of drug, alcohol, sex, and porn addictions in our community. We are living in troubled times, and I realize it will take your intervention to break the bondages that exist. I ask that you quench the cravings for these substances or activities from the lives of all individuals in my community and country. I know that addictions are just a way to fill a void in a life. I ask that you fill each person’s cravings and fill the void with the Word of God.

Lord, I ask that you touch the hearts of those individuals who are supplying these substances to the citizens of my city. Remove the shingles from their eyes to see the destruction they are causing in the lives of the abuser and the friends and families of those using the substances. Close the door to the availability of the substances. I humbly ask that soldiers for Christ minister to the dealers, showing them the way, the truth, and the light. The fields are ripe for harvest. We know that part of the solution to drugs and other substances in our community is to stop their availability. That can only be done through your divine intervention.
1 Peter 5:8
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
Lord, you know those who are living in the prison of addictions. Satan’s ultimate plan is to destroy all that God created. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy. John 10:10. I ask that you would bind the works of Satan. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I believe that you can cleanse those struggling with an addiction.

Lord, you came to set prisoners and sinners free from their bonds. Therefore, I raise before Your throne of grace all those who have become addicts. We all know those who are bound by a curse. Look compassionately at all who suffer from addictions and send help and freedom to all who receive help. Give their families and caregivers wisdom so they can get support and help get them back on the road to recovery. Replace their cravings with the Word of God.

Heavenly Father, I know such will allow our city to thrive. Our children and families will be grounded and bonded in your Mighty Name.
I ask all in Jesus’ name. Amen
Prayer for the Addict’s Salvation Through Jesus:
Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit…”
Jesus,
Addictions are becoming more and more widespread today. Lord, the only hope for breaking free of substance abuse is knowing who you are in Christ. I come before you, praying for the salvation through Jesus of those who are struggling with addictions. I ask that you pour out your love and grace upon them and that you open their hearts to receive your salvation through Jesus Christ.
Lord, I know that addiction is a powerful stronghold that can only be overcome through the power of your Holy Spirit. I pray that you will break the chains of addiction and free these individuals from the bondage that has held them captive far too long. Make them a new creation. 2 Corinthians “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
I ask that you surround them with a community of believers who will support and encourage them on their recovery journey. Give wisdom and discernment to those who are providing treatment and support, that your wisdom and compassion would guide them. I pray they internalize your Word: who the son sets free will be free indeed. John 8:36
Lord, we know You are the Great Physician who heals all wounds. I ask that you touch the hearts and minds of those struggling with an addiction and draw them close to you. I pray that they would come to know the love of Jesus Christ and the power of his resurrection and that they would experience true freedom and transformation in his name.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

Prayer to Break the Spirit of Lust and Sexual Sin in My Community:
Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Dear God, our culture is inundated with lust, prostitution, and pornography. The internet has helped contribute to this explosive growth. I see the effects in my community. I come before you today to ask for your help breaking the spirit of lust and sexual sin that has been affecting the thoughts and actions of citizens in my community. I know this desire does not align with your plan for the citizens, and it has been causing pain and harm to all aspects of our city. I see marriages, families, and businesses being destroyed. Only you can rescue our city, churches, homes, and families.

I ask that you intervene and empower the affected citizens to avoid this destructive path and seek your guidance and strength. This epidemic is problematic across all races, sexes, and socio-economic groups. It is even growing among your believers. Please send workers and resources to help those involved in this industry. I come against all strategies of hell; may the plans be destroyed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, protect our children also. It seems the world is determined to sexualize our children. Put your guard around their hearts and minds to protect them from those who plan to use them for no good.
With a humble heart, I seek God’s protection. Amen
Colossians 3:5 “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Prayer for the Addict’s Protection from Bad Influences:
Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Protector Father
You know the struggles of the addict. The culture of the addict is full of temptations. I come to you asking for your protection for those struggling with addiction. Lord, this journey is difficult, and many bad influences can lead the addict astray.
Lord, you know my heart. I want my community to be a safe place for all citizens. I desire you to cleanse my city of the influences of all addictions. I pray that you will shield the addicts from these negative influences and help them to surround themselves with positive, supportive people who will encourage them in their recovery journey.

Lord, give addicts the strength to resist temptation and the courage to walk away from any situation that could lead them back into addiction. Help them to stay focused on their recovery and to trust in your love and your plan for their life. Raise community services that will assist with recovery. Put it on people’s hearts to serve the addicted community as they travel the road to recovery. Give them dreams and visions of what it is like to live a life of freedom through Jesus. May Jesus fill the void addicts have.
Hebrews 2:18 “For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”
Give me the wisdom and the words to support the addicts in their journey and to be a positive influence in their lives. Help me show them your love and grace and be a source of strength and encouragement for them. May the power of the Holy Spirit fall on the addicts and the blinders and strongholds fall from them. That is their only hope for recovery.
Thank you for your love, your mercy, and your protection. I trust in you and believe that you can do all things. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Prayer to Remove Shame From the Addict:
Psalm 34:4-5 “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.”
Faithful Father
You know shame is a paralyzing emotion that can keep the addict in the vicious cycle of addiction. My prayer is for those who are struggling with addiction and the shame that often accompanies it. We ask that you pour out your love and compassion upon them and remove the heavy burden of shame that they are carrying.
Lord, I know that addiction can be a source of great shame and guilt and that it can be difficult for those who are struggling to see themselves as anything other than their addiction. I ask that You help them see themselves as You see them – as beloved children of God, created in Your image and filled with Your grace. May the addict know who they are in Christ.
Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

I pray that you would surround them with a community of believers who will offer love, support, and encouragement and help lift them when they feel ashamed. Let the addict find hope and healing in your presence so that they will come to know the freedom and joy that come from a life surrendered to you.
Lord, I ask that you replace the shame they are feeling with your grace and forgiveness and help them move forward in confidence, knowing that they are loved and valued by you. Show them that the blood of Jesus is able to wash them clean.
Isaish 1:18: “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”
I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
Isaiah 61:7 “Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.”
Prayer to Give the Addict Hope:
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Dear God,
My prayer today is for the addicts in my community. The life of an addict is filled with hopelessness. Father, you know it doesn’t have to be that way. You sent your Son, Jesus, to provide a way to a life of freedom. I ask that you would fill the addicts in my community with hope, even in the midst of their struggles. 2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”
Lord, I know that addiction can be a source of despair and hopelessness, but I also know that you are a God of hope and healing. I pray that you would reveal yourself to those who are struggling and that you would help them to see that there is always hope in you. I pray that they will be filled with a renewed sense of purpose and direction and that they will be empowered to take the steps necessary to move forward. May they be released from this imprisonment and returned to a life with dignity and meaning.
Lamentations 3:24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
Lord, help them trust your goodness and faithfulness. Help them find comfort and strength in your presence so they are reminded that you are always with them, no matter what.

Give them the courage to take each day as it comes and hold onto the hope that you offer. May they be filled with your peace, joy, and love so they experience the fullness of life that comes from a relationship with you.
I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
Romans 5:5 “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Prayer to Restore the Dignity of the Addict:
1 Timothy 2:1-4 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Jesus,
I lift up the addicts in my community. Addictions destroy self-worth and create a life of meaningless. I pray for those struggling with addiction and the loss of dignity that often accompanies it. Restore their sense of dignity and self-worth and help them see themselves as You see them – as beloved children of God, created in Your image and filled with Your grace.
Lord, we know that addictions can rob a person of their dignity and self-respect and that it can be difficult for those struggling to see themselves as anything other than their addiction. Help them find their identity in you and restore to them the sense of dignity that comes from being a child of the King. Let your power flow through their veins to bring about new-found freedom in Christ.
Lord, I ask that You replace the shame and guilt they may feel with Your grace and forgiveness and that You help them move forward in confidence, knowing that they are loved and valued by You. Break the chains that have them in prison…set them free.

I pray that you will help them see the beauty and potential within them and guide them into a future filled with hope and promise. I pray that they will be filled with your peace, joy, and love and that they will experience the fullness of life that comes from a relationship with you.
I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
