Lord, Teach Me to Dance in the Rain (Pain)

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Heavenly Father,

I praise you for always being with me on the mountaintops and in the valleys of pain. Why do I always quit dancing when in the valleys? Lord, I want to learn to keep dancing when going through the storms of life. I want to live fully as you command: to give thanks in all circumstances. I want to understand fully what it means when Your Word tells me that all circumstances are Your will for me in Christ Jesus.

You know life is full of times when I have no earthly reason to dance. You have given me a heavenly reason to never quit praising you. I pray you take my thoughts captive when I take my eyes off you and look at my earthly situations. In times when the rain falls and the winds rage, grant me the wisdom to trust in Your sovereign hand, knowing that You are with me in every tempest and every trial. Move me from the fleshly realm into the spiritual realm so that I see circumstances as You do. My spirit desires to praise you in ALL circumstances.

Your Word tells us in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Lord, strengthen me in moments of weakness, and help me to lean on You for courage and perseverance. Mold me into your Child who sees every valley as an experience for growth. My desire is to dance when on Your potter’s wheel.

Father, I want to find joy amidst the chaos and to cling to the hope that is found in You alone. Your Word assures me in Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” May this truth anchor my soul in the midst of life’s storms, knowing that You are working all things for my good and Your glory. That alone is reason to dance!

Remind me in times of trials that they are just for a season. I pray to internalize your promise in Psalm 30:5, “For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Grant me the grace to endure the night seasons of my life, trusting that joy will come in the morning. Sometimes I lose focus of what Jesus endured for me. His model of suffering through the ultimate dark moment was with purpose. It led to that glorious morning of resurrection. May this never leave my thoughts as I go through the rain.

Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. May His example of perseverance and unwavering trust in Your plan inspire me to press on, even when the road ahead seems uncertain. Guard my heart when I have the natural tendency to doubt Your promises. Grant me the peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Help me to surrender my fears and anxieties to You, finding rest and refuge in Your unfailing love.

Father, thank you for giving me the mind of Christ. Through You, I can continue dancing through all seasons of my life. I pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
