Comforting Prayer After Miscarriage: Healing & Hope for Your Broken Heart

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Dear Heavenly Father

I am praying through tears. This miscarriage has given me such a heavy heart. Lord, You know the depth of my sorrow, the dreams I held, and the emptiness I feel now. Through this grief, I still thank You because I’m standing on Psalm 56:8: You are the God who sees every tear and collects them in Your bottle.

I am comforted that you are near to me at this time. You understand that I am crushed in my spirit. I pray that you will draw close to me in this pain; let me feel Your comforting presence surrounding me like a warm embrace. Father, I praise You because You formed my little one together in my womb—fearfully and wonderfully made. I am confident that you made (him/her) beautiful with traits that would be used for your glory. Even though (his/her) days on earth were brief, every one of those days was written in Your book before he came to be. Knowing that my baby is safe in Your loving arms gives me a peace that passes all understanding.

Lord, I ask that you patiently heal my broken heart and bind up my wounds. Heal my emotions and my body through this journey. As I mourn, I am reminded of Matthew 5:4: Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. I pray that you bind the spirit of depression and anxiety as I work through this miscarriage. Help me to cast my anxieties on You, knowing You care for me. Strengthen me when grief overwhelms, and remind me that Your grace is sufficient.

I don’t know why this happened, but I am standing on what I know to be true. You are an all-knowing God. Take me from questioning why this happened to believing that I will use this loss to build the Kingdom. I pray that my journey will be used as a testimony to your goodness in the midst of grief. May I one day testify to Your faithfulness through this valley.

Lord, in time, work even this sorrow for good in my life. Restore my joy and hope and wipe my tears. Until then, hold me close, carry my burdens, and fill my emptiness with Your peace that surpasses understanding.

In the name of Jesus, my Savior and Redeemer, I pray. Amen.

Psalm 34:18 You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.
