Christian Prayer for Courage
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with this prayer for courage, asking for one thing I cannot live without: courage. Not the kind the world gives, but the courage that comes from knowing You are with me, guiding me, strengthening me, and fighting for me.
Lord, there are moments when fear tries to grip my heart—when the unknown feels overwhelming, and my own strength seems to fall short. But Your Word declares, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). I hold onto this promise today.

Give me courage to face the challenges ahead—whether it’s a decision I must make, a conversation I must have, or a step I need to take in faith. I know I cannot do it in my own strength, but I trust in Your power made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Help me not to shrink back in fear, but to walk boldly in the calling You’ve placed on my life. Fill me with holy boldness like the early church had, who prayed, “Now, Lord… enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness” (Acts 4:29). May that same boldness rise up in me today.
When I feel anxious, remind me that You are my refuge. When I feel alone, remind me You have not left me. When I feel uncertain, remind me You go before me. Just as David said, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You” (Psalm 56:3), so I will do the same.
Let Your perfect love cast out all fear (1 John 4:18), and let Your peace guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen me, Lord, and help me to be courageous not just for myself, but so that I may encourage others too.
This is my prayer for courage—not because I am strong, but because You are. And in You, I am never alone, never without hope, never without help.
I receive Your strength today. I rise in Your power. I walk forward by faith.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
