7 Prayers for a Generous Heart

Prayer to Share My Blessings With Others:

2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Heavenly Father, I strive to have a generous heart. Help me to let go of any feelings of scarcity and fear, and to trust in your abundance and provision. Lord, cleanse me of any hint of greed. Remove my focus on material possession and give me a heart of generosity. Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Grant me the wisdom and discernment to use my resources wisely and to give freely and generously to those in need. Help me to see the value in giving and to understand the joy and fulfillment it brings.

Teach me to be grateful for all I have and share my blessings with others. Help me to give without hesitation or expectation and to do so with a loving and open heart.

Thank you for your generosity and love and the many blessings you have bestowed upon me. I pray that through your guidance, I may develop a generous heart and use my resources to impact the world positively. Amen.

Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”

7 Prayers for a Generous Heart

Prayer for a Generous Heart With My Finances:

Hebrews 13:16 “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

“Heavenly Father, you have blessed me abundantly, not only with finances but also with talents. I come to you today with a grateful heart, acknowledging that every good and perfect gift comes from you. I thank you for the blessings of our time, talents, and resources.

I ask for your guidance and wisdom as I seek to be generous with the gifts you have given me. Help me to see the needs of those around me and to respond with open hearts. Give me the courage to give freely without hesitation, knowing you will bless me in return.

I pray for the ability to be generous with my time by volunteering and serving in my community and for the wisdom to use my talents to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

I also pray for the discipline to be generous with my resources, to be mindful of my spending, and to be willing to give sacrificially when I see the needs of others.

I trust in your promise to meet all my needs according to your riches in glory, and I believe that you will provide for me and bless me as we seek to honor you with my generosity.

1 Timothy 6:18-19 “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”

Prayer for a Generous Heart With My Time:

Acts 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Faithful Father,

Thank you for all the blessings you have given me. I never want to take anything for granted. I want to become more like you…being a servant to others. I have come to realize that giving includes my finances and my time. I repent for not being more generous with my time. I come to you today asking that you show me where I can serve others with my time.

Lord, slow me down so that I know when I can offer my time to those in need. May I always be willing to lend a listening ear, offer a helping hand, or share a kind word with those who cross my path. I realize there are opportunities everywhere for me to take the time to use my words to lift others up. Help me slow down to recognize and use those times to honor you and bless others.

Teach me to be patient and compassionate with those who may require more time and to show grace and understanding in all my interactions.

May my heart be filled with love and kindness towards my family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. May I learn to be selfless in my actions and seek to serve others with joy and gladness. Above all, I pray that my generosity with my time will bring glory and honor to your name and reflect your love and grace.

Thank you for your never-ending blessings and for the gift of time. May I use it wisely for your purposes and the good of others.

In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Prayer to Be a Cheerful Giver:

2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Loving Father

I can never thank you enough for being the model of sacrificial giving. The fact you gave your only Son so that I can live eternally is nearly beyond my comprehension. As I meditate on your love, I want to become more and more of a giver. I repent for the times I reluctantly give out of a feeling of obligation rather than love. I come before you today asking for the grace to be a cheerful giver. Help me to give freely and generously without expecting anything in return, knowing that all good things come from you.

Teach me to give with a joyful heart, knowing that my gifts can be used to bless others and bring glory to your name. May I learn to give sacrificially, trusting that you will provide for all my needs. May I never give begrudgingly or out of obligation but instead give willingly and gladly, knowing that every act of generosity is an opportunity to bless others and honor you.

Proverbs 11:24-25 “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”

Help me be wise with my resources, using them to impact the lives of those around me positively. May I be mindful of those in need and seek to share my blessings with others in a way that brings hope and healing to their lives.

Above all, I pray that my giving would be a reflection of your love and grace and that it would draw others closer to you. May my cheerful giving be a testament to your goodness and provision and inspire others to be generous with their time, talents, and resources.

In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

2 Corinthians 9:6 “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”

Prayer to Look for Opportunities to Be Generous:

Proverbs 21:13 “Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.”

Giving Father

I want to become more mindful in my giving. Rather than opportunities being pointed out to me, I want your eyes to see those in need. I come to you today asking for the grace to look for these opportunities to be generous. Give me eyes to see those around me who need my time, talents, and resources.

Lord, I l want to learn to see the world through your eyes, with a heart filled with compassion and love for others. Help me to be sensitive to the needs of those around me and to look for ways to offer support, comfort, and care. You have blessed me with the finances and time to be a blessing to others. Now I ask that you move me to a new level of wanting to share my blessings with others. Help me have eyes to see those who are really in need so that I am a good steward of what you have blessed me with.

Help me to be creative in my generosity, looking for ways to bless others that go beyond the traditional ways of giving. May I be willing to step out of my comfort zone and be open to new opportunities to serve and bless others.

Above all, I pray that my generosity would be a reflection of your love and grace and that it would draw others closer to you. May my actions inspire others to be generous with their time, talents, and resources, and may they see in me a reflection of your goodness and provision.

In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

2 Corinthians 9:11 “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”

Prayer to Give and Not Expect Anything in Return:

Acts 20:35 “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Lord Jesus

We live in a “me” time where we are bombarded with a message: “What will I get out of this?” Father, I don’t want that attitude to become a part of me, especially in giving. I come before you today with a prayer for a giving heart that doesn’t expect anything in return. Help me give freely and generously, without ulterior motives or expectations of reward.

May my giving reflect your love and grace, a selfless act that brings joy and hope to those in need. Teach me to give without hesitation, with a heart filled with love and compassion for those around me. I don’t need my name associated with any of the giving. Give me a pure heart in my giving, not one who desires to bring glory to himself.

Help me to be a good steward of the blessings you have given me, using them to bless others and bring glory to your name. May I learn to give sacrificially, trusting that you will provide for all my needs. May my giving be guided by the Holy Spirit, and may it be a reflection of your love and generosity. Help me to see the needs of those around me and to respond with compassion and kindness, even when it is difficult or inconvenient.

In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

Proverbs 3:27 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.”

Prayer to Focus More on What I’ve Been Given So I Become More Generous:

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Heavenly Father

Thank you for all the blessings you have given me through the years. You have been faithful to me in times when I have been up and when I’ve been down. My heart has been heavy with the thought I haven’t been generous enough with my time and finances. It’s always been “another day” before I would start being more mindful of my generosity. As I ponder how you have provided for me, I realize my heart hasn’t been right.

As I increasingly realize how I’ve been blessed, a spirit of generosity arises. Lord, I pray you will help me continue to recognize that I have been given so much in this life and need to grow in giving to others. I want to be blessed to be a blessing to others.

Lord, help me give freely, without reservation, and not hold back from selfishness or insecurity. Please help me overcome these barriers and become more generous with the blessings you have given me. I want to be a source of love, kindness, and generosity to those around me.

As I grow in generosity, teach me to see the needs of others and to respond with compassion. Help me share my time, talents, and resources with the less fortunate and make a positive difference in the world. May the lips of my ministry share the gospel of Jesus with those I can bless.

I trust that I can become the generous person you created me to be with your guidance and support. Thank you for all that you have given me and for the opportunities that lie ahead.

Amen

Hebrews 13:16 “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
