Prayer for Wisdom and Guidance in My Life:
Psalms 37:23 “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
Lord, I know hearing God’s voice is paramount in life. I come before you today seeking guidance and direction in my life. I know you are the one true source of wisdom and understanding, and I trust your goodness and grace.
I pray that You would reveal the paths that You would have me take and that You would lead me by your Spirit. Help me trust in your plan for my life, even when it is unclear to me.
I ask that you give me the courage to follow your lead, even when it takes me out of my comfort zone. And I pray that you would give me the wisdom to discern your will for my life and the strength to carry it out. Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.”
I know you are always with me and working for my good. Help me to trust in you and to follow you with confidence and joy. Satan has no place in my life, and I bind any attempt for him to lead me off Your path you have for me.
In your holy and mighty name, I pray, Amen.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Prayer for Direction in the New Year:
Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Heavenly Father, As I enter the new year, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude and hope. Thank you for the blessings and opportunities of the past year and for Your faithfulness in carrying us through the challenges.
I ask for Your guidance and protection as I embark on this new journey. May Your presence be with me every step of the way, and may Your will be done in my life. I believe with you, this new year will be my best.
I pray for Your wisdom and discernment as I make decisions and set goals for the new year. Help me to use the talents and resources You have given me to honor You and serve others. I vow to let my light shine before men so that you may be glorified. I am the head and not the tail; I will walk and live accordingly.
I also lift to You the concerns and needs of our families, friends, and communities. May Your love and grace be evident in how I care for and support one another. You tell us in your word that one is not to live as an island. As I pray for my needs, I also lift up those you have put in my life.
As I look ahead to the unknowns and uncertainties of the new year, I trust in Your sovereignty and promise never to leave or forsake me. Help me rest in Your peace and hope in Your good plans for my life. Rev. 21:5 “He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
In Your precious name, I pray, Amen.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Prayer for Making a Big Decision in My Life:
James 1:5-6 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
I praise you for always guiding me in all aspects of my life. I repent for trying to make it through situations without first going to you for direction. Today, I am humbly seeking you as I have to make a big decision in my life which could be life-changing. I come to you today seeking guidance and direction as I face deciding <insert specifics>. I am feeling overwhelmed and unsure of the path I should take.
Please give me clarity of mind and a peaceful spirit as I navigate this uncertain time. I trust in Your love and care for me; I know You have a plan for my life. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit and pave the way for the direction you want me to go. John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
I pray for Your wisdom to be evident in my choices and for Your peace to overshadow me as I make this important decision. May Your hand be upon me and lead me in the right direction. I ask that my ears hear no voice other than those you have ordained.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer to Recognize God’s Voice:
Jeremiah 33:3 “’Call to me and I’ll answer you, and will tell you about great and hidden things that you don’t know.’”
We live in a world with many outside stimuli bombarding us minute by minute. This makes it so easy to be distracted from hearing from you and hearing your voice. I come to You today seeking Your wisdom and guidance as I strive to recognize Your voice in my life. I want to follow Your will for me and obey Your Word. Help me be still and take time to block out all outside distractions. I want to hear your voice. Psalms 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Please give me a sensitive heart and an attentive ear so I may hear Your voice speaking to me through Your Word, prayer, and the guidance of Your Holy Spirit. Help me discern Your voice from the world’s noise and follow Your leading in all things. I bind every attempt of the Evil One when he puts doubt in my mind or tries to lead me in a direction that You have not ordained. Satan has no control over my present or future life.
I trust in Your love and care for me, and I pray that You will use me to fulfill Your purposes for my life. May Your name be glorified in all that I do.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
John 10:27 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
Prayer to Learn to Be Still So I Can Hear From God:
Job 6:24 “Teach me, and I will be silent; make me understand how I have gone astray.”
I praise your Holy Name. You have been my help in times of trouble, and I am truly grateful. I have fallen short of being the Christian I need to be. Help me! I constantly struggle with just being still. I seem to go from one project to the next; then, I am too exhausted to hear from you at the end of the day. I come to You today seeking Your peace and guidance as I strive to learn how to be still and listen for Your voice.
Life can be so busy and noisy, and it can be difficult to quiet my mind and focus on Your presence. Your Word tells us to be still; I know why. Please help me block all other activities so I have time to hear what you have for me.
Please give me the strength and discipline to set aside time each day to be still before You. Help me to let go of the distractions and worries that keep me from hearing Your voice. I want to have a relationship with you, that is foremost. I know you are waiting to meet me in silence. Help me remember Jesus’s powerful words: “Be still.”
I trust in Your love and care for me, and I pray that You will use this time to speak to my heart and guide me on the path You have for me. May I always seek to live in obedience to Your will.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Proverbs 19:20 “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.”
A Prayer to Hear God’s Voice in Unexpected Ways:
Psalm 119:18 “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.”
Lord, I am ready to hear from you. You are the Creator of all, all for the pleasure of your people. Keep my eyes focused on the beauty all around me. Today I ask that you help me be still and see you and your voice unexpectedly.
Lord, in Matthew 6:26-34 is a clear message to us. It is a full sermon on how observing nature is your voice.
“Look at the birds of the air. They don’t plant or gather crops. They don’t put away crops in storerooms. But your Father who is in heaven feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than they are? Can you add even one hour to your life by worrying?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the wild flowers grow. They don’t work or make clothing. But here is what I tell you. Not even Solomon in all his royal robes was dressed like one of these flowers. If that is how God dresses the wild grass, won’t he dress you even better? Your faith is so small! After all, the grass is here only today. Tomorrow it is thrown into the fire. So don’t worry. Don’t say, ‘What will we eat?’ Or, ‘What will we drink?’ Or, ‘What will we wear?’
People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them. But put God’s kingdom first. Do what he wants you to do. Then all those things will also be given to you. So don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.“
Heavenly Father, your Word tells us, “The rocks will cry out.” Help me remember you speak to us in a variety of ways. I need to take time to be still and listen to your voice. I bind any attempt from Satan to keep me from hearing your voice.
Lord, teach me to listen with my eyes. I am open to believing you chose unexpected ways to speak to me. While others may laugh at the thought, I want to put no limit on hearing your voice. May my life be so full of the Holy Spirit that I hear your voice in something as simple as a rock. Luke 19:40 tells us you acknowledge speaking through nature. “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
I praise you for speaking into my life every day. Your humble servant desires a deeper relationship with you. Amen
Prayer for Open Doors to God’s Will for My Life:
Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…”
I praise you for your leadership and guidance in my life so far. As always, when I seek your direction, you clearly show me what is best for me. I am at a crossroads again and need your guidance on where to go. I know you have a plan and purpose for me, and I desire to walk in your will and follow your path for my life.
I ask that you open doors for me according to your perfect will. Help me to recognize those doors when they appear and to have the courage and faith to walk through them. Close all doors I may attempt to enter if they don’t lead to your will and what is best for my life. Give me wisdom and discernment to make the right decisions and avoid paths that do not align with your plan for my life. I stand on your word that you will order my steps. Psalms 37:23 “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.“
Lord, I trust in your goodness and your faithfulness. I know that you will lead me down the best path for me and will equip me with everything I need to fulfill your purposes for my life. I continue to give you all the glory for the successes you have given me so far.
Thank you for your love, grace, and promise never to leave or forsake me. May your will be done in my life, now and always.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
1 Corinthians 16:9 “For a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”
